Digawolf

Digawolf is of the Tlicho (Dogrib) community of Fort Rae, Northwest Territories. The music tells the stories of the culture, the elders and the land. The music of Digawolf "Earth Is Crying", album can be described as Alternative with an unique northern sound, a mixture of English & Instrumentals original music. The first album, entitled "father", was honoured with a nomination at the Aboriginal Music Awards in Toronto in 2003. Diga means wolf in Dogrib (pronunciation: 'dig-gah'). The CD's can be purchased at the Northern Frontier Visitors Centre. Digawolf's new album is titled "Distant Morning Star".

Tanya Tagaq Gillis

Groundbreaking Inuk throat singer, Tanya Tagaq Gillis, has brought an ancient Inuit vocal game to the heights of the experimental music scene. Tanya’s new CD, Sinaa (say “sih-NAA”), displays her technique through a collection of original improvisations and three traditional Inuk throat songs. Tanya earned a standing ovation for her performance at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. She also received three awards at the ceremony, including the prize for “Best Female Artist.” She’s collaborated with Bjork and the Kronos Quartet and toured with some of the world’s leading global artists. Tagaq grew up in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

The Gumboots
